Handyman Vacancy 2026 at Department of Agriculture – Middelburg, Eastern Cape | Ref No: 3/3/1/31/2026

SALARY : R170 226 per annum (Level 03)
CENTRE : Eastern Cape: Middelburg

REQUIREMENTS : Applicants ought to be in possession of Grade nine or NQF stage 1 qualification. 1-2 years applicable trip in farm and or fence making work. Competency Certificate in fence making is recommended. Job Related Knowledge: knowledge of Public Service and Departmental prescripts/ policies. General farm work. Using hand tools. Cleaning of buildings. Cleaning of gear and tools. Harvesting of lucerne. Storing of feed. Erecting of fences. Job Related Skills: Good verbal exchange skills. Planning. Interpersonal skills.

DUTIES : Render renovation of workplace buildings: Conduct everyday constructing and equipment inspections. Report breakage. Defects, issues etc. Report and/ or attend to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, renovations, portray and replacement problems. Render protection of farm gear and infrastructure: Conduct restore works to fences, water systems, furniture, equipment and tools. Inspect fencing and restore as required. Safekeeping of maintenance equipment and supplies. Detect and restore leaks and damaged pipes as required. Construct and keep farm constructions as wished (e.g. hail shelter, tractor color ports, frames to aid trials, etc). Conduct activities farm work: Install irrigation pipes and pumps. Dig trenches. Combating veldt fires. Perform elementary agricultural duties like weeding, irrigation and sowing. Maintain gardens, endeavor grounds, paddocks and irrigational lands. Assist with general maintenance: Removal and dumping of refuse. Cleaning of gutters. Sweeping of roads and parking areas. Washing and cleansing of legitimate fleet. Cleaning of constructions and cleansing of constructing and machines.
